Poor me.
Having a nice back yard out in the woods is the best, we really enjoy it. What I don't enjoy are the gray squirrels that have moved into our back yard for the sole purpose of driving my dog (and me) absolutely insane.
At first, the crazy squirrels stayed in the woods and Beretta would just take off into the woods after them. Wasn't a fan of that- being that she won't come back until she was sure she couldn't get them or after much coxing and lying to her that I was going to play ball with her.
Then they got smart, real smart. Too smart. One by one they would creep into the yard when Beretta was inside assuming her usual postion at the sliding glass doors in the kitchen. I really thought my 85+lb rottweiler was going to burst through the door, leaving shards of glass all through her, my kitchen and leaving me with a nice bill to replace the glass door and a huge vet bill to get her fixed up. It was a mad house. Audrey of course thought it was one of the funniest things she's ever seen.
She set the house alarm off with the noise she was making when she was jumping up and down trying to get the stinkin' squirrels. I told Ben about it, him thinking it was equally as funny as his daughter. His solution was to pull the blinds... right. Like that worked. That only left me with the job of putting the blinds back together after the dog tore them down trying to get a better look at the gray squirrels.
This went on for days, days I tell you. Eventually after some training and a few days of me pulling my hair out- she can sort of tolerate the beasts in her back yard. Beretta waits and watches for them a good bit of the day. The wild woman and I spend a good bit of time in the kitchen trying to get things organized and meals made for new baby coming.
The other day the wild woman thought the wild dog needed some company watching for the gray squirrels. I think she thought since Beretta was spending so much time looking out the doors- it might be a good time. So, Aud went to the panty, grabbed herself a snack, grabbed a blanket, and sat down for about 20 minutes watching gray squirrels torment the day lights out of my poor dog.
